Liver patients in need of a living liver donor now have a new resource to help in their search: the Find A Liver website at www.findaliver.com.
Approximately 10,000 people in the United States are on the waitlist for a liver transplant. While many liver transplants use organs from deceased donors, it is also possible for a living person to become a liver donor.
Because the liver can regenerate, both the donor’s remaining liver and the transplanted portion in the recipient can grow back to near normal size after donation.
Find A Liver aims to raise awareness about living liver donation and provide patients with practical tools to make their donor search easier, more organized, and more effective.
FindALiver.com offers valuable guidance on how to put together a search team and run a successful donor search campaign, as well as free coaching from donor search coaches and a personalized microsite to enable liver patients to tell their story and spread the word about their donor search.
